Fashion for health’s sake: we love it!

Superstar designer Tommy Hilfiger is releasing a new handbag from which the proceeds will go towards breast cancer research and awareness. It is the seventh consecutive year the brand has released a limited edition handbag in support of Breast Health International; a non-profit organization supporting breast cancer research and patient resources.

The limited-edition handbag retails for $299, and $100 of each sale will go directly to the Fund for Living. This global BHI initiative provides assistance to women with breast cancer and their families, by covering costs or addressing unique problems associated with their care that may not be covered by health insurance programs.

Also part of this great campaign are supermodels Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer, who were photographed by world-renowned fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, famous for his work with Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, ALL the biggest supermodels in the world, and yes, that mention by Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.

Being part of this campaign is important to Campbell, who has experienced the pain of breast cancer in a personal way.

“As my own mother has suffered from breast cancer, and I’ve seen first-hand the hardships and challenges the illness can cause. I’m a passionate supporter of breast health education, and I’m honored to be able to contribute to BHI’s amazing work,” she says.

“I am very proud of our annual collaborations with Breast Health International,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “Each year our limited-edition bag allows us, our fans and our customers to build awareness in a powerful way, and raise significant funds for the organization. We’re honored to be working with [Claudia, Naomi & Patrick] on this important initiative.”

“I hope with this campaign we can increase early awareness for early detection, and help support women and families in need,” said Claudia Schiffer about her reason for getting involved.

The handbag is available in select Tommy Hilfiger stores in Europe, the United States, Canada, Latin America, the Asia-Pacific region and tommy.com.

Former celebrity ambassadors for the Tommy Hilfiger BHI handbag campaign include Drew Barrymore, Renee Zellweger, France’s former First Lady Carla Bruni, Helena Christensen and Milla Jovoich.

Great to see some big names in the fashion industry putting their celeb status to good use and furthering a great cause.
