Supreme Court Judge Tells Young Girls Being A Princess Is Not A Real Career

US Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor stopped by Sesame Street last week to lend her voice for a very important message. In this video with Abby, one of the show’s puppet cast members, Judge Soto tells her that the aspiration of being a princess is foolish and not a real career.

While she might be viewed as a buzz kill by some, her reasoning is right. She wants to empower young women from an early age to set realistic career goals.

Her message is clear, to do something valuable in life you have to work for it, and education is important. Her appearance on the show is also a great way to show us that women really can do anything if you set your mind to it, and don’t give up wanting to take the easy road. She worked hard and made history herself by becoming the First Latina Supreme Court Justine in US History!
Wanting to be a princess is ok for fun while you are a kid, but parents out there were you challenged by this video? What are you doing to ensure your young girls and boys have real career ambitions and not just live in a fairy tale land?
